Mostly only found on various of the 833 Islands, the Stalker is a large (can grow up to the length of a human torso), wingless black insect, known for creeping through the bushes at the edge of one's peripheral vision. It has large, spindly legs which enable it to move quite swiftly but though it often looks poised to leap it is incapable of jumping. Nor can it climb, so it is only ever encountered on the ground. It eats with a large proboscis like tube, and has a prefference for large beetles. In spite of it's size, actually seeing one is fairly uncommon as they are jittery in the extreme, but at the same time curious and tending to "stalk" anything that catches it's interest. Even as far as insects go, it is not intelligent, and the most common way to find an Island Stalker is to pace the beaches until you find one that died attempting to consume a Scut (though Scut are the right size, their impenetrable shell makes them inedible to the Stalker, not that this stops them from trying.)
It's worth noting that there is no Lesser Island Stalker, and never has been. It is likely that it is known as the Greater Island Stalker because it's first confirmed sighting was on the Greater of the two Ophilos islands (an otherwise unremarkable pair amidst the rest of the "833" Islands.)
