The chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes) is a species of primate closely related to humans. They differ by about 400 genes. Scientists have found that the chimpanzees of Xothu are incredibly intelligent, shaming even some humans. Magicians have noted that they can even be trained to use simple spells.

They live naturally in jungles and forests. There are laws in place that mean they cannot be kept as pets without a permit.
