Bronzetooth Scavenger

Description

The Bronzetooth Scavenger is a humanoid being that skulks around the forests of the kingdom looking for freshly killed meat. They have pale green skin and large bronze teeth, hence their name. They are almost completely hairless, except for their head and the tops of their feet. They are excellent tree climbers and can be difficult to spot in the branches due to their small size. Bronzetooth Scavengers are solitary and only pair up to mate once every year. Some of them have formed close relationships with the Warrior Beast. The Warrior Beast kills an animal, meaning the Bronzetooth can also join in with the feast. This is rare however and has only been spotted a couple of times. The females give birth to live young and they look after them for a year, before leaving them and going off to mate again. They are pregnant for about four months.

Nourishment

This creature finds it difficult to kill its own food so it relies on carrion killed by other animals. If no other food is available, it will eat leaves although this is not preferred. Ideally, they need to eat twice a day, but they can survive on one meal a day.

Sleep Pattern

Although they mostly sleep during the night, they are most active at daybreak, when they search for any animals killed during the night.

Size

Bronzetooth Scavengers are not very big. They can reach a maximum length of three feet, although two and a half is more common.

Stamina

The stamina of these creatures is not very good. Because they do not need to chase anything to get a meal, they are quite lazy. It is pretty much a guarantee that they will die after being attacked by a larger animal.

No. Commonly Encountered

They are solitary, except during the mating season. It is not possible for them to live in large groups because there is not enough food.

Mental Aptitude

Bronzetooth Scavengers were once thought to be very stupid, but recent studies have proved that they are actually quite intelligent. The males build nests out of leaves and twigs in the treetops before leaving the female to raise her young in it.

Movement Type

Although they mostly move on four legs, they can move on two quite comfortably.

Movement Speed

They are only fast when they need to be. They are generally slow creatures, especially around midday when it is very hot.

Morals/Alignment

It naturally depends on the individual, but most sway towards good and neutral.

Average Life Span

Most of them only live for ten years in the wild although they can reach thirty-five. The oldest Bronzetooth on record was forty-two years old.

Habitat and Climate

Bronzetooth Scavengers usually live in forests but can also be found around swamps. Many have taken to living near farms, where they can get meat from the cattle, sheep and goats when they are killed. They live mostly in temperate zones and keep away from anywhere particularly cold.

Tactical Information

A foreign presence in their territory is never attacked, but merely glared at. This species is not able to put up a good enough fight, although incidents have occurred in occupied towns around the kingdom.

Fighting Prowess

These animals were not made to fight and generally keep clear of all physical contact.

Magical Prowess

These animals have never been known to use, understand or even know about magic.

Armour

Bronzetooth Scavengers have no natural defences, which is quite unusual. They are not smart enough to invent any sort of armour.

Unique Attacks & Defences

If forced to attack, the Bronzetooth has quite a nasty bite but because of its brittle teeth, it can hurt the creature just as much as the thing being bitten.

Magical Immunity

These animals have no resistance to magic, so are easily destroyed and kept at bay.
