Unlike Blood Ravens, whose name merely indicates the colour of their feathers, Blood Hawks are a vicious bird whose feathers appear to have been coated in fresh blood. Indeed, many Blood Hawks drip blood constantly, both their own and of those they attack. Permanent haemophiliacs, once a Blood Hawk starts bleeding, it never stops, and many burst from their eggs scratched. They have wickedly sharp talons which they use to great effect, attacking anything with a pulse, larger than themselves. They eat only fresh meat and drink only blood. Fortunately they are a very rare species, and will likely become extinct within a century.

Folklore has it that Blood Hawks are terrified of Siffl, and there is a legend that states that the fate of the world will be decided when the last Blood Hawk clashes with a giant (evidently, flying) Siffl in a titanic battle above the Land of Sixty Dancing Volcanoes.
